Fatal Fight on the Big Bridge

Hey everyone we are trying something new tonight. Godai and I just finished the first ever #gamemp3s podcast! We would like everyone to listen and check it out. We'd also like to hear everyone's comments, thoughts, and suggestions about the program. You can post below or if you want to you can email us on the webmaster address to the left. Thanks for listening!

Edit: A lot of people wonder where the music to the end came from. It's music from Lemmings that Godai and I were talking about. You can download it here.

That was really good. Hopefully more people will give more feedback so You have more things to talk about next time. One thing I kinda knew was about dressing properly to the concerts. But I lack any knowledge in dressing properly... The only time I've dressed up was to prom. Would it be similar to that?

Anyway, long time stalker saying he enjoyed hearing from some of the people who have made gamemp3's possible.

Okay, I take it back. Especially because I know zero Japanese. But moreover, because that ending song was amazing. And also a great segue to my REQUEST!

I want an entire podcast dedicated to the awesomeness that is Samurai Champloo: Sidetracked.

It's great, as long as your having broadband, but not for people who are on dial-up...yes, dial-up users still exist.

RE: Suikoden PSP Localization

It's not Konami's fault Suikoden PSP isn't getting localized, it's SCEA's fault, if I recall. They have some kind of policy against direct ports. Same reason we won't get the Devil Summoner PSP.

Do you guys have an RSS feed for this?

I had to move it over to YSI right now because our bandwidth is about at its limit but the RSS was working last night when we were hosting it on our own server.

Very interesting. Keep it up with the new album/game discussion, but I have another possible topic for you. I haven't been following #gamemp3s since its inception, so it would be interesting to hear some history about the sick, twisted pirate scum who run the show. How it got started and all that. Maybe get some other people on there to give their background and involvement with the group.

Looking forward to the next one.

I really enjoyed the content of the podcast. You two sound very knowledgable about game music and I feel that this podcast is something I could listen to dedicatedly in the future.

While I realize this was only the first edition, I think that the quality of the podcast could be improved given a little more preparation. There was at times the indication that you were winging it and the sheer volume of "uh"s really began to bother me.

Again, I enjoyed the podcast immensely so please do continue.

OH. OH! OH!! What's with the Chocobo hate?! ;_; I mean, sure, it's in every FF. But so is Prelude and I don't see you hating that. Meanies.

And I thought you were so cool Godai when I met you in Chicago. You disappoint me. ;_;

Sorry to shatter your dreams, Sir VG.

Don't forget we are looking for a name for this podcast, so post here with your suggestions guys.

Masamune, preparation was pretty much nil so yeah, the "uhhh"s and "ummm"s should lessen over time. (I hope.)

First off, your podcast sucks! =D

It started out well, but halfway through I got bored and ended it. I was expecting a lot more music. I think that next time you should include at least one choice track from each recent release in the podcast so people can savor your fruits.

Also, while I agree on the concert dress code, the DS networks are one of the best things about the concerts. I don't know about others, but I don't play it during the performance, so I see no problem with it.

That's all for now. Make the next one better! =)

Nice going, Msia and Godai. I enjoyed your first session very much. No sarcasm.....seriously. :P It was interesting hearing you both go back and forth in a playful manner. I'll definitely be tuning in to future sessions.

And I have a suggestion: Talk about Mother 3. The game and the soundtrack. I'd like to hear what you both have to say about it. I've talked about the game with you, Godai, briefly, but I'd be interested to hear what you have to say about it more thoroughly, and you too, Msia.

Well anywho, keep up the good work guys. Great thing you have here.

PS: You guys DON'T suck!

Nice job guys! You definitely didn't suck, it was amusing and informative. I'm really excited about some of the upcoming soundtracks! Oh i noticed something about the Lemmings song, its faster on the podcast than the song by itself is on your download, just wondering.

comment posted by egmcary on 06 June

Thanks for the comments guys. On the Lemmings song, that might be something I did during editing on accident. Its in mono on the podcast while the mp3 is in stereo.

An idea: I, like many others, spend a great deal of time listening to game music, to the point where I can identify tracks by their first few notes. Sometimes I like to play a game where a friend will pick a track and I try to identify the game or, harder yet, the track.

I think this would make a great segment for the podcast. You can select a few tracks, play different lengths and have us guess particular aspects of the song; game, track title, instrumentation, what have you. Then provide the answers the following week with a new set of songs.

Interesting idea Masamune. I will speak with Godai about it, thanks.

If you two were in the same room than congratulations on the good sound quality.

The "You pay through game X yet?" phrasing with just this shade of a drinking game though.

A bold experiment and a call to arms for more companties to release games in the US fromt he sounds of things.

Thanks for the bravery.

Well, that was great. This is honestly the first podcast i've listened to and i thought it was great. It's nice to hear some people talk about games with actual respectable opinions. Most people just hate on crap and dont give reasons for it, so good job.

The only thing i have to recommend is just make a list of stuff you want to talk about. I'm not saying plan this out in depth or make a proffessional outline, after all this is supposed to be fun, right? I for one hate planing stuff because i like to just do what ever in life. What i'm saying is before you do a cast, just brainstorm for about 5 mins and write down some interesting random things to talk about in one or two word phrases and just elaborate on them in podcast. I think when things like this are impromptu they are a lot more interesting and fun to listen too. Once again, great job, keep up the good work, and i will definately listen to the next one no matter how busy i seem to be these days.. ugh.

That was pretty awesome!
Like Shin Ein, I preferred the casual/inpromptu nature of this podcast. Could be interesting if done more professionally too, but I guess I'd have to experience listening to one of that nature.. (this is my first time listening to a podcast too).
It's a nice start; I look forward to hearing more of these in the future.

(The ending music ftw.)

For future podcasts, I'd love to hear some commentary on translation of all the track names. Surely, that takes a good amount of time.

comment posted by DragonmasterX on 11 June

I was thinking how when people are talking about their favorite tracks on various message boards, "OMG! I LOVE THAT SONG [Insert name of song]!" Most of the time the name of the song they're talking about comes from Godai's translation(I assume he does all the translation). Because the original trackname would be in Japanese! So Godai's influence truly spreads far and wide!
