Make-Believes Reborn

You'll hear tonight's update title alot if you play "Sonic and the Secret Rings" for the Nintendo Wii...on the subject, tonight's release (we haven't had a new one in a while!) is:

Sonic and the Secret Rings Original Sound Track ~ SEVEN RINGS IN HAND

Featured on this album are Kenichi Tokoi, Fumie Kumatani, Hideaki Kobayashi and Seirou Okamoto.
Steve Conte (who has worked with Yoko Kanno) delivers the opening and ending vocal themes. Jun Chikuma of Bomberman and Faxanadu fame brings the Arabianesque trio, Le Club Bachraf, to the table on the "Treasure Disc", very good stuff!

Edit: There was a small error in the previous release. On Track 201, Kumatani was erroneously credited, it's actually Kobayashi. I killed the torrent and have reuploaded a fixed version. My apologies to the few who were on the torrent and to the 800+ who have already downloaded it. If you archive our releases, re-downloading this album would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks a lot as usual, but I must say I'm not fond at all to see how the music from the Sonic series has turned out! In the beginning, we have the wonderful pieces from Yuzo Koshiro that will forever be classics, and on the other hand, we have these massproduced cheeky little pieces that are supposed to be "rocky" in the new Sonic games.

If SEGA only had the decency to put in some classics in the overall worthless soundtracks that the recent Sonic games have had, I would have been a little pleased. But now, I'm only left with a bitter taste of useless and indeed "corny" music that leaves me with a deep sadness to see the music going in this direction.

Sorry for the long post, but I had to explain my feelings =)

I disagree completely, Gameguardian. That is all.

Well, I've still to listen to this one, but I totally disagree as well. Shadow, Sonic Heroes, and both SA games had spectacular music. Next-gen has some good pieces, but it lacks some greatness due to Jun Senoue's absence.

Jun Senoune's pieces start to blend together after a while. Which is why I was glad for the quality improvement in Sonic Next-Gen.

Shadow's OST was so...dry. I couldn't sit through and listen to the whole thing like I could with the other soundtracks.

Yeah, we're all allowed to have different opinions and I truly respect yours, and the post I Left the other day may have been a bit harsh, since I was so disappointed in this soundtrack particularly.

I have taken a good listen through to some of the other 3D-sonic games OSTs and I did actually find some good bits of music here and there. Hehe, I hope you don't hate me because I don't really like the new sonic sound. I respect your tastes of music and I hope you respect mine =)

Best wishes, Gameguardian /

I agree that new releases are becoming rarer since those remix torrents which I don't really care about since I've followed the team back from the old days in 2001 up to now lol
But what i would suggest would be to reencode somme of the best ost like Nights into Dreams which were in the bad r3mix into some fresh V0 rips..
nice release anyway thanks Godai

yes Gameguardian is right

anyway this the sonic next-gen and this sonic extremely lack of Jun senoue presence

well the theme of sonic and the secret ring is tasteless...
the voice of this conte is very bad and the overall music just suck

as far as i remember Fumie kumatani's music in sonic adventure 2 we're Really annoying (rouge stage theme) like cheesy jazz with some girly backround voice... maybe good for J-pop fan..

Kenichi tokoi... i can't tell.. he made just like 3 or 4 tune in sonic adventure series... can i call him the looser from the SA series?

the "new" sonic sound... perfect for the newb that think the playstation is the first console ever and that think ATARI is japanese

What are you talking about?! The Rogue stage themes were some of the best music on the Sonic Adventure 2 soundtrack! Both Kumatani and Tokoi (known for adding jazzy touches to their music) are some of (the best Sonic Team/WaveMaster artists) what helped make the Sonic Adventure series music diverse and exciting beyond Senoue's too-often-one-trick cheese rock direction. The sound producer called for a decidedly 70's jazz-funk for Rogue and they did an superb job at compelling it - Tabitah Fair ("girly" background) added a marvelous little touch in those themes. All in all, Sonic music has a tradition of energetic, fun sounds.

Apart from the programming and some extras of the Game Gear's 8-bit Sonic, Yuzo Koshiro wasn't responsible for any other music in the series. Masato Nakamura did the first two games.

Anyway, thanks for the release. I had no idea of Jun Chikuma's arabesque ways.

It's decent. I miss the techno of the original Sonics as well but I see why they brought it in this direction.

What I would *love* to see is more stuff like the Sonic Rush soundtrack. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

What really needs to happen: just give us some solid arranges of music from the Genesis games with all kinds of instrumental "rocking heart" styles.

Yeah, I have no idea what GameGuardian is talking about. Yuzo Koshiro hasn't done any music for any Sonic games.

he did the music for sonic 1 on the master system

Yeah, I was a little off there, but Koshiro actually did some music for Sonic. He is after all credited to have done it on Wikipedia! But I know he didn't do much else apart from that. Anyway, just a quick answer =)
