You Spin Me Right Round Baby
My favorite and yours (if not, what's wrong with you??):
Yuzo Koshiro Best Collection vol. 1
This first entry in the "Best Collection" series from Five Records features, "Actraiser", "Misty Blue", "Actraiser -sound board II ver.-", and "The Story of Thor". You've heard "Actraiser" and "Misty Blue" before (here even, as we've released both albums). First time on CD is "The Story of Thor" ("Beyond Oasis" in North America) which has a mix of PC-9801 and Mega Drive sound sources.
P.S. - Also check the scans for some sweet-ass Buichi Terasawa jacket art.

this update fails to mention two things, which I think are fairly relevant:
1) sound board II ver. of Actraiser was originally part of the Misty Blue disc. If you've released the Misty Blue disc, than these songs came with. Word.
2) "Story of Thor" in the US = "Beyond Oasis." Probably worth mentioning...

OMFG double post.
I forgot to say "thank you" and "good work" for getting this album up so quickly. So, yeah, I say both of those things.
And, due to the title of today's update, I'd like to give a shout out to MEAT SPIN! :P:P:P

Thank you! While we're on the subject...i ripped Yuzo Koshiro's soundtrack for the obscure Saturn game Vatlva. I thought you could be interested, since i've never seen an encoding around the web, and the OST never got released.

In case you didn't knew, SoundBoard II was one of PC-8801 soundcards. OPNA (Yamaha 2608) compatible (6 FM channels, 3 PSG channels, Rhythm section and ADPCM channel). So basically 2 OPNs (YM2203) and Atari ST soundchip (YM2149) stacked together.
This was (and still is, Etrian Odyssey was written for that I guess), the instrument of choice for Yuzo Koshiro.

Heh heh "Satan" became "The Evil One" or Tanzra in the US version. Damn politically correct Nintendo.
Actraiser is Koshiro's crowning work. So beyond its time. Led me into my intrigue for video game music when this game first came out in '91.

The sound board II Actraiser is interesting. Sounds sort of like Actraiser meets Castlevania. While I'm glad the funkier tracks didn't make it into the game as-is, maybe they would have been better with more of an orchestrated style.

Good ol' ActRaiser. I love how the beginning of the ending theme closely resembles the 20th century Fox logo song.
