Before and After the Enix
We have:
Final Fantasy Tactics A2 The Sealed Grimoire Original Soundtrack
Secret of Evermore
"A2" is the sequel to "Final Fantasy Tactics Advance" on the Nintendo DS. Along with new music, this album features arrangements from "FFTA" and "FFXII". Music and arragement are by Hitoshi Sakimoto, with his other Basiscape pals helping. A note here, the liners do not say who arranged what, and I did not feel like putting Basiscapes entire staff in the tags, so it is all under Hitoshi Sakimoto. Blame yourself or Square Enix. Another note, I didn't muddle the filenames/tags with "from FFXII "Uematsu's Bitter Tears", so if you want to know whats from what, it is all in the NFO file.
I usually like to pack in at least another album, so the bonus today is a newer rip of the rare "Secret of Evermore" soundtrack, featuring arrangements and original music by Jeremy Soule!
(Ugh, this is what happens when I don't have cover scans provided, I'll update the FFTA-2 one later.)

Whoa, A2's out in Japan already? Well awesome! (heh, although the title on my RSS bookmark had me thinking this was Before Crisis or something.)
Awesome stuff, thank you very much! ^^
comment #4
Evermore is a lovely treat. Thanks!
wow, someone's on a roll. XD thanks, will be dl-ing now.
Awesome upload guys! These massive releases are coming just around finals for me so i should have study music aplenty! Great little FFT joke in your description btw
comment #8
Secret of Evermore hmph? That's Jeremy Soule. He made the awesome main theme for Dungeon Siege. Other than that track, nothing stands out.
I... I... I don't know what to say...
The first Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Advance soundtracks are some of the best VGM I've ever heard and probably Sakimotos greatest work, and now you give us the soundtrack for the next installment. I can hardly wait for this pearl and as always, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
Thanks as always, Godai!
Many Many thanks, This will keep me going till my copy of A2 arrives
comment #12
omg, thank you for the FFTA2
comment #13
Hitoshi Sakimoto, huh? I'm guessing I'm probably one of the few VGM fans who generally does not care for his work. To me, it seems like he relies a lot less on melody and a lot more on the loudness of instruments. Hopefully his style on the DS is a tad more conservative in the latter department (wouldn't it have to be?). Regardless, thanks for the release.
Thanks for the release, I am actually looking forward to Secret of Evermore much more than FFTA even if the cover is horrible.
@Elrinth
Company of Heroes, Baldur's Gate, Morrorwind, Oblivion, Guild Wars, Natural Selection, Prey, Neverwinter Nights, Unreal 2?
I like each of these soundtracks..
What the hell is up with the cover art for the SoE OST?
Thanks for the releases. It's good to have a high-quality rip of Secret of Evermore at last. Are you Mitsuhiro Kaneda's composition credit is an error in the liner notes or merely GMROnline's album listings?
Elrinth: I love how you talk about music "not standing out", and yet you completely disregard the fact that the other album posted, Final Fantasy Tactics A2, is a [mostly] Hitoshi Sakimoto OST, who is the king of making bland music that doesn't stand out. As far as I'm concerned, Jeremy Soule is the better composer [that's not saying much in the case of Hitoshi Sakimoto, though], and I'm usually someone who prefers Japanese composers.
Nice "Blame yourself" reference.
I hope someone is planning on ripping the Club Nintendo Mario Galaxy OST for you guys.
Nice, I really like the FFTA2 OST, even better than original FFTA's I think.
Even the arranged tracks bring a lot to the table.
Chris, It's in the liners.
OK, thanks. There's an interesting discussion here that I just found about Square Enix not doing an amazing job with tagging etc. with the album release:

Also, thanks for the tags in Secret of Evermore. It's good to know what Julian Soule's role was at last.
...as usual thanks a lot Godai!
I know most of you here don't actually buy this stuff, but a lot of great music by Jeremy can be downloaded over at his online music store, DirectSong... http://www.directsong.com. I hear rumor they are in the process of doing away with DRM altogether for their releases, and this will be a retroactive decision as well.
How do you guys expect me to listen to all these great albums? Slow down!
Redfield: you know what? They say Jeremy Soule is the Hitoshi Sakimoto in the west! XD Seriously I love both these guys
comment #27
Secret of Evermore has one of my favorite videogame soundtracks of all time; it's truly an underappreciated gem. Thanks so much for the upload, so that others may experience its sublime beauty.
Thanks, Can't wait until the Mario Galaxy 2-Disc soundtrack is up that was just released in Japane :-)!!!
Cool, thanks. It's always nice when the older soundtracks get some time in the spotlight.
Oh man, KILLER combo. You guys are awesome, thank you! It's going to be a battle not to listen to the whole A2 soundtrack and spoil the experience of hearing them ingame for myself! I must keep it to a small sample!
Talk about the oasis in the middle of the desert. Damn, Godai, you're on fire lately.
Here's hoping for not just corrected FFTA-2 artwork, but corrected ZXA Tunes artwork as well.
Tom Kenney is just joking with the 'slow down' bit, you know. Keep up the wonderful, timely releases!
Thanks for the upgraded encode of the Evermore soundtrack! I echo the praise for Secret of Evermore, both the music and the game. It makes excellent use of ambience (a genre of music very beloved by me), enhances and in some areas actually establishes the bizarre and bleak atmosphere of the game. I love how music carries a certain strangeness to it and totally fits the game's eccentricities. The overall minimal use of melody is still not too monotonous or bland to my tastes as with some other ambient music, and is quite pleasant listening.
Too bad quite a lot had to be cut out for a single disc release of the game-- some of my favorite songs aren't included. All we have to fill in the cracks is an expansive SPC rip whose music doesn't sound very well emulated at times.
Thanx for both of these!
There are no caps large enough to express my enthusiasm over the FFT-A2 soundtrack.
Holy shit SoE Official. Now I can have something to augment the rather nice mp3 rip done by . . . dammit, I don't remember; I'd have to ask BlueKirby/Basil. Still, Ebon Keep's music is really fucking good.
I could give a shit about Sakimoto. Talk about bland non-ambient music.
Also, are there no plans to release Beautiful Katamari's OST whatsoever?
"Ripped by dancey on 7/24/07"
you mean d/l'ed from OiNK
comment #39
Secret of Evermore official soundtrack?! Woaaah! This totally made my day! Just listening to it sure brings back nostalgic memories from when I was in the 2nd grade when I played it...wow... Thank you guys so much!
HiKek, I had a good laugh, thanks.
We only have so many soundtracks from oink left to release, we're going to have to retire after that. ;_;
"Blame yourself or Square Enix."
You card.
Dear HiKek,
I can send you the paypal receipt and a big fuck you scan if you want!
Offtopic: Hey, Godai, is the Pirate Broadcast still functioning? Whenever I try to play it, it gives me the 15 seconds of Megaman 7's Opening Stage and then shuts up.
It's usually up all the time, I'm just not actively playing music, but when I do, you should hear it.
Blame yourself or Square Enix.
Or is it...Blame yourself or God.
=P
comment #47
Wow, this inclusion of classic vgm with smaller releases idea seems to have had a great response! Super neat idea, Godai.
Thank you very much for these awesome releases!
Thanks for another great release, Godai. Do you still plan to update with the scans for FFTA2, though?
