Die Monster, you don't belong in this world!

Ok here we go, it's the Akumajo Dracula Best Music Collections Box. At two gigabytes and nineteen and a half hours, this beast covers the entire Castlevania series (or close enough). Except to hear a lot of Konami Kukeiha Club and Michiru Yamane, but there's way more artists as well. I've put an enormous amount of time and work into this release, so hopefully it shows.

Akumajo Dracula Best Music Collections Box

4/06/2010 Update: No more updates:

1) Fixed the m3u, nfo and sfv.
2) Fixed a few tracks that had misspellings on the box.
3) Fixed the "Encoded" field on a few tracks not displaying properly in Foobar.
4) Fixed the Disc 18 tracks "Comment" field.
5) Swapped the titles of tracks 8 and 10 on Disc 4.
6) Fixed the id3v1 album tags for the tracks in the zip file.

Make sure you only have 574 tracks plus the three other files.

You can download the FINAL 1.04 "Toothed Wheel" update here.

Absolutely awesome! A huge thank you for compiling this amazing collection.

To anyone wondering what's not covered by this box set: the only omissions I noticed were Legacy of Darkness on the N64, and Adventure Rebirth for WiiWare, but soundtracks for both of these are easily available elsewhere.

Thanks again!

And to quote vgmdb's entry:
This box includes the first-ever releases of Vampire Killer (MSX2), Castlevania Legends (GB), Kid Dracula (GB), additional tracks for the Saturn port of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, as well as the two arcade games Akumajō Dracula: The Arcade and Akumajō Dracula: The Medal.

Save yourself the trouble and just download disc 17, Akumajo Dracula: The Arcade. It's some very well done stuff, including nice arrangements of the original Castlevania soundtrack.

The rest (aside from the other brand new material) is some lazy copy/paste from past releases. Glad I'm not the poor sap who wasted his money on this.

Dear cowl,

I didn't waste money on this, but if you feel I did feel free to throw me some cash. I didn't buy this for completion, I bought this because I don't have any Castlevania soundtracks at all. Box sets are not for die hard fans, they're for people who don't have much or any at all.

comment posted by dancey on 03 April

Honestly? I wish I had the cash for this. The value per CD is not bad at all, I'm just poor and with the customs charge, this would come to more than I could afford sadly.

I think it's worth it at any rate if you can afford it, dancey.

I second Razakin, even, everyone can go to the VGMdb page or either give a look at the Discussion threat: http://vgmdb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3622 where there is much more in-depth information, regarding each game composer.

As a side note... tag this collection was a nightmare.

First things first, thank you! Thank you a lot!
Secondly, it is now the 11th of April. So what I should do is download the torrent and then replace those files with the FINAL 1.04 "Toothed Wheel" update?
If someone could please clarify that?

comment posted by mr.floppy on 11 April

mr.floppy: Yes, that's correct. Download the torrent first, and then replace all the files from the update. Use the sfv to check which files you need to keep and which ones to delete.

Thanks for clearing things out! And thanks again for your continuously awesome effort!

A quick question: How do I seed this without overwriting my own files? uTorrent says that a lot of my files are now unfinished/only partially downloaded after deleting the wrong files and updating the others with the file from the update.

The problem is that appearently a lot of the files now show up as incomplete, even if they were not included in the update (for example 0606 - Dance of Gold). I assume this is because the torrent chucks/blocks don't necessarily match the files.

Wouldn't it be easier to just update the torrent file with all the updates? At the moment I am unable to seed files without overwriting/corrupting them even though they were never updated.

comment posted by Emil on 12 April

... the torrent is no longer downloadable. Any reason for this?

comment posted by wvlfpvp on 12 April

wvlfpvp: Check your connection/client. I was able to download the torrent and files using utorrent.

Emil: If you're going to seed the torrent (thanks to all who have done so), it's best just to download it and keep the updated files separately. Once you're done seeding, copy the updated files over.

comment posted by Msia on 13 April

Simply put, this album is pure win. Thank you guys SO much for this...the nostalgia is lovingly washing over me in huge waves thanks to this music. God, memories of playing Castlevania II at night...good times :)

comment posted by firebrand on 13 April

Thanks Msia. I have more then enough space so having two seperate copies is no problem at all. I'll copy everything and let the torrent get back to 100% with the incorrect files so I can seed everything.

The Castlevania Bloodlines segment of the box set is incorrectly credited to Konami Kukeiha Club when it should have been credited to Michiru Yamane. Otherwise, a fantastic release, though I already have all of the songs spread though out my hard drive. Now they're all in one place... Well, two places but whatever.
