Is this just a torrent of the Bandcamp set? If it's a CD rip, is there any reason to believe that the CD rip is superior to the MP3s provided by Bandcamp, which are likely derived from the raw source as opposed to a CD encode?

I think you meant to post that in the shovel knight thread because there is no bandcamp release of this.

We will never repackage or torrent a digital download. Also, what makes you think that the cd source for some reason doesn't come from the same raw source the bandcamp stuff is from? It would be asinine for them to provide a pressing plant with lossy files for production. At worst we have files that are the exact same. There is no indication that there is anything wrong with the production of the physical release.

I did mean this for Shovel Knight, sorry.

What I was saying is that ripping from disc is probably introducing an extra layer or loss, albeit minor.

Digital release:
Master source --> MP3

CD Rip:
Master source--> CD --> MP3

In any case, it seems a little odd to provide a CD rip when the soundtrack is readily available in digital form, that's all. I'm not unappreciative, it just seems like an odd choice.

There should not be any loss going from master --> cd. Afaik it is a lossless process.
